You need summer employees? They’ve got grants, but watch those EARLY DEADLINES.

(1) Funding: Canada Summer Jobs Applications are due by January 25, 2019.

Please note the following key dates:

The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public-sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Private sector employers are eligible to receive funding for up to 50% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage.

The earliest job start date is April 23, 2019.

The latest job start date is July 23, 2019.

The latest job end date is September 1, 2019.


2) Co-operative Education Incentive ,summer positions. Applications are due by January 31, 2019.

This funding program helps Nova Scotia employers hire Co-op students for a 4 month term.

Successful applicants are reimbursed $7.50 per hour (50% of the required minimum hourly wage of $15.00) to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Organizations in receipt of IRAP or SR&ED tax credits are eligible for a larger incentive of up to a $10/hour reimbursement. Acadia Co-op work terms must be paid, discipline-related, and a minimum of 35 hours/week for a minimum period of 12 weeks.
